From the President

There is a New Member’s Party coming up in April. That’s because it’s March, time for new members to join. And time for the old members, uh, I mean current members, to renew. Every year, we experience a drop in membership for those who forget to renew. It won’t happen to me this year, because I opted for a 5-year renewal the last time I renewed. Otherwise, it often happens to me, unless our membership chair reminds me about it. But our membership chair is always reminding me about meetings, where I left my keys and to tie my shoes. She is my wife. You might not get such preferential treatment until after your membership lapses. By then you won’t be receiving the M-Aura. We don’t want you to be out of touch and unaware of the coming activities – like the New Member’s Party, tentatively on April 14th. Keep an eye on the website www.northtexasmensa.org or next month’s M-Aura to confirm the date and to find out where it will be.
On the national level, Culture Quest is coming up in April; however, you have to register your team by the end of March. There is a Youth Division, if your team is young enough, and the Classic Division for the old, uh, I mean, current members. Also in April, the 20-22, is the American Mensa Mindgames in Herndon VA. If you an avid gamer, you can experience and rate some of the newest games. And speaking of games, there is the “Colloquium v2012.2: Social and Video Games” in Reno Nevada just before “The End of Time AG” in July. You can find out about all of this at the national website, www.us.mensa.org. So you see, there is plenty going on nationally and locally.Hey, if you have the know-how and a little time to get our group’s name out there, why not volunteer to chair our publicity effort. Contact me for this or other opportunities to help out. If youhave ideas, and who inour groupdoesn’t,you’ll findthat all ofthe leaderswould loveto hearthem.
