Meeting called to order at 6:00 pm by President Gunny Hartman. Attendees: Vice-President John Marshall, Treasurer Doug Fix, Secretary Roger Durham, and board members Chris Cree and George Schmidt.

1. Reports

Secretary - The proposed August 2018 Board Meeting Minutes were circulated. Marshall moved, Schmidt seconded to approve the minutes as submitted, which passed unanimously.

Treasurer – Fix reported on the August financials which included income of $1,085.67 and expenses of $942.21, generating net income of $143.46 for the month of August 2018. Net assets increased to $30,913.40.  Report received with thanks.

President – Hartman presented the President’s Report, including reminders about the New Members’ Party on October 6th at the Kittenbachers’, the next Board Meeting on October 21st, and the election of 2019 officers on November 18th, after which the following reports were received (names in parentheses are board liaisons for that office):

Membership – Paul Whiteman submitted the membership report via email. As of August 31, 2018, 1,161 members were reported, up from 1,139 on July 31, 2018.

Ombudsman - Randy Brack – nothing to report.

(Cree) Editor – Bill Rock reported that the newsletter will go to the printer tonight. Karen Brack noted that MADEATS is moved from Monday the 8th to Friday the 12th in October.

(Cree) Publisher/Circulation Manager – Val Beasley – nothing to report.

(Cree) Social and Communications – Vacant

(Cree) Publicity – Vacant

(Cree) Webmaster – Andy McKellar – nothing to report.                         

(Whiteman) Proctor/Testing Coordinator - Deborah Lockhart – No test given this month. Next month’s test is scheduled for October 20 at Preston Tower.

(Whiteman) Programs – Karen Brack – tonight’s speaker will be on weather forecasting. Next month’s speaker will be a restaurant critic.

(Whiteman) Calendar - Sara Hawkins – No report.

(Schmidt) Gifted Children - Bill Rock reported that the Cavanaugh Flight Museum was attended by about 8 kids. Next month’s activity will be a games afternoon at Nerdvana in Plano.

(Schmidt) S.I.G.H.T. - Gunny Hartman – nothing to report.

(Schmidt) Scholarship Chair – Ralf Kittenbacher – no report.

(Schmidt) Regional Gathering – Karen Brack – 87 have registered so far. The RG will host the initial meeting of the new national Sec SIG, devoted to computer security and related subjects; they will sponsor a computer lab at the RG.  There will also be an Escape Room.  The proposed Kids’ Track has been cancelled for lack of interest.
