This is where the NTM meetings will be shared online!

Welcome to North Texas Mensa Gifted Youth

Mensa Gifted Youth is a Special Interest Group (SIG) in Mensa, specifically dedicated to providing activities, events, and interaction opportunities for those Mensans under age 18.  We try to schedule at least one event a month for gifted youth, across a wide variety of fun and interesting things.  If you have an idea for something that might be interesting to try, please let me know.  Some of the things we've done recently:

Astronomy night
Chocolate dipping party
Attended a robotics competition
Artists' studio tour
Flew airplanes
Minecraft party
Helping with White Rock Lake cleanup
Played at Lego Land
Launched rockets
Went Birdwatching
Toured a baseball glove factory
Picked blueberries
Board games parties
Delivered Meals-on-Wheels

The National Mensa web site has a list of the many things they do to help foster a supportive environment for Gifted Youth across the country.  See http://www.us.mensa.org/learn/gifted-youth/ for a list of what they do, or http://www.mensaforkids.org/play_template.cfm to play games especially designed to be fun for gifted youth.  American Mensa also runs the BrightKids facebook page, which is a forum for parents, teachers, and others interested in raising and educating gifted children.  See http://www.us.mensa.org/learn/gifted-youth/other-resources/ for details on BrightKids and other resources for adults.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to contact me at GiftedYouth (@) northtexasmensa.org or give me a call (daytime) at 972.344.5939.

Thanks.

Many are suprised when they pass the test.  It requires so little time and if you pass, you have the opportunity to meet intelligent people every day.  Check out our calendar and you will see. More events at private homes are visible only to logged in members. It is so much fun being around people that understand your dreams, ideas, and humor.  You will wish you joined sooner!

There is an online mini test  that you can take to see example questions.  Click here for information about real testing and how you can qualify based on testing you may have already done.

Want to join Mensa? Curious?

Testing takes a little less than two hours, and consists of two tests featuring questions involving various skills, including logic and deductive reasoning. A score at or above the 98th percentile on either of the tests will qualify you for an invitation to join Mensa. To take the test, you must be 14 or older, and any test-taker who has not yet reached the age of 18 will need the permission of a parent or guardian. The testing fee is $60.00, and may be paid with a 1) Mensa voucher purchased online athttp://www.us.mensa.org/join/ that you print out and brought with you, 2) cash, 3) a check or 4) a credit card.  Please bring photo identification to the test site. Pencils will be provided. You do not need to bring anything else. Mensa also offers culture-fair, non-language tests for those for whom English is not a primary language, anyone wishing to take these tests should contact the Proctor Coordinator, currently Deborah Lockhart, at:  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Testing is held periodically, at 4 sites in Dallas county in rotation and announced about 1 month before the date.

Submitting prior test scores for acceptance: If you think that you might qualify for membership based on a test that you have already taken, read the FAQs are on the US Mensa website: http://www.us.mensa.org/join/testscores/ Prior evidence is the only way someone under 14 can become a member of Mensa.

General testing information: An RSVP would be appreciated. To RSVP and to get location information please, send an e-mail to Testing Coordinator at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Pre-registration is not required but it is to your advantage to do so. In the unlikely event that more people show up for a test than can be accommodated, those who have pre-registered will receive preference over walk-ins. Also, it will allow you to be notified in the unlikely event that a test session must be canceled. Simply e-mail me of your intention to take the test if and when you make that decision.

Good luck!
